Carmel Valley splits along neighborhood lines more cleanly than most of the county. Which of the three families is behind the panel depends on the street. In the older parts of 92130 the work is mostly Classic built-ins of one generation, so the same faults come round on the same schedule across whole streets. The newer mesa tracts in Pacific Highlands Ranch, Torrey Highlands and Del Mar Mesa lean toward integrated columns and paired refrigerator-and-freezer installations. Integrated installations bring a fault the freestanding world never sees: the door is carrying a cabinetry panel that weighs more than the door itself. Over years the hinge takes that load, the door drops a few millimeters, and the gasket stops meeting the frame evenly along the top edge. Nothing dramatic happens. The unit simply runs longer, the compartment nearest the gap sits a degree or two warm, and the ice maker starts turning out frost-covered cubes. Door alignment on these is a real repair with a real measurement behind it, not something adjusted by eye.
