Ice Machine Repair in Carmel Valley
The municipal supply here is hard, and the ice maker is the appliance that notices first. Scale collects on the fill tube and around the inlet valve, fill volume drifts down a little each month, and the cubes come out smaller and hollower until one morning there are none at all. That slow slide is so common in 92130 that we check the water before we check the machine: filter age, pressure at the valve, and whether the tube has partly frozen. A new module bolted onto a line that is not delivering will make exactly the ice the old one made.
What this covers in Carmel Valley
We repair the ice makers built into Sub-Zero refrigerators and freezers, the standalone undercounter machines fitted into island runs and outdoor kitchens around Carmel Valley, and the clear-ice units that turn up in Pacific Highlands Ranch and Torrey Highlands. Inlet valves, fill tubes, ejector arms and modules, harvest thermostats, water lines and their fittings, drain pumps on undercounter machines, and the condensers that quietly halve production once they load up with dust.
- Small, hollow or cloudy cubes
- A cold compartment producing no ice at all
- Water pooling under an undercounter machine
- Inlet valve, fill tube and water line repairs
- Module, ejector arm and harvest thermostat replacement
- Scale and filter service on hard-water supplies
One local wrinkle worth knowing: plenty of kitchens here feed the ice maker from an under-sink reverse-osmosis tap rather than the cold line. RO water tastes better and makes clearer ice, but it arrives at a fraction of the pressure the inlet valve was designed around, and less again while the storage tank is refilling. The result looks exactly like a failing ice maker. Undersized cubes, long fill cycles, a machine that keeps up overnight and falls behind by dinner. Before anything gets replaced we find out where the water is actually coming from.

Fabulous customer experience from scheduling to completion. The specialist arrived on time, was courteous, and restored our wine cooler’s temperature control. It was a relief to find such reliable and knowledgeable local experts in the Del Mar Highlands area. David Chen, Pacific Highlands Ranch
Fine every morning, warm by four in the afternoon, and I had convinced myself the compressor was going. He took the grille off, showed me a coil packed solid, and cleaned it. It has held steady right through the mesa heat since.

Questions
Answers before you call
What parts do you fit, and what happens if one has to be ordered?
Replacement components that meet or exceed the original specification. An off-brand fan motor or a copy of a control board runs fine until it becomes the same call a season later. If a part is not on board, the diagnosis still finishes that day: what failed, what it costs, before we leave. Nothing is fitted without your say-so.
Will a repair affect my Sub-Zero factory warranty?
Check with the manufacturer before you book anyone, ourselves included. Coverage on the sealed system turns on who did the work, so use a repair you already own before buying it twice. This comes up in the newer Pacific Highlands Ranch and Torrey Highlands kitchens, where equipment can still be young enough to be covered; built-ins in older Carmel Valley are well past it.
